Itinerary

Day 1: Lima

Upon arrival at Lima international airport you will be met by our representative and transferred to your Hotel, located in Miraflores the safest and nicest area of Lima.
Overnight in Lima – Casa Andina Classic Miraflores Centro *** (Traditional Room)

Day 2: Tourist bus journey Lima - Paracas (3 ½ hours)

6:20: you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the bus station to board the tourist bus to Paracas.
11:00: upon arrival in Paracas you will be transferred to your Hotel.
Free afternoon to enjoy and relax in the beach!

Day 3: Boat trip to Ballestas Islands

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to Paracas pier where you will board the motorboat to Ballestas Islands; this morning you will observe seabirds flying around, colonies of sea lions, and Humboldt penguins, on the way you will appreciate the candelabra, a pattern etched into the sand and rock of a hill!
After the boat trip you will be transferred to the bus station to board the tourist bus to Nasca.
11:00: Bus journey Paracas - Nasca
Upon your arrival in Nasca you will be transferred to your hotel.

Day 4: Flight over Nasca Lines (35 Minutes)

Morning: Flight over the fantastic Nasca Lines for panoramic views of a monkey, a fish, a spider, a hummingbird and many drawings and geometric figures on the desert visible only from the air. The mystery of these huge figures in the desert continues even today.
Afternoon: tourist bus journey Nasca - Arequipa (9 hours)
13:00 Pm. You will be transferred to the bus station to board the tourist bus to Arequipa.
Upon arrival in Arequipa you will be transferred to your hotel.

Day 5: Arequipa - day to relax and acclimatize to the altitude (7,626 ft)

Afternoon: Guided tour of Arequipa
After lunch, you will be picked up from your hotel to start your half day tour of the beautiful colonial city of Arequipa surrounded by spectacular snow-covered mountains. The colonial buildings are built of "sillon" - a white volcanic rock - hence the nickname "the white city". Our tour includes an amazing view of the white city from Yanahuara Mirador and a visit to Santa Catalina Monastery (a city within a city).

Day 6: Colca Valley tour

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel to start the amazing trip to Colca Valley and Canyon; on the way you will pass through Pampa Cañahua Park where you will enjoy taking pictures of the South American Camelids like the elegant Vicuñas, Alpacas, Llamas and with some luck Guanacos and Vizacachas. This trip offers you spectacular views of the most impressive Andean Volcanoes like Misti, Chachani and Ampato.
After travelling for almost 5 hours, you will arrive in the nice Andean village of Chivay, where you will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch.
After lunch, you will have time to rest and relax.

Day 7: Condors in Colca Canyon - Arequipa

After an early breakfast, you will be driven to Cruz del Condor to observe the flight of the majestic Peruvian Condor; which will need enough wind to start the show, yes, the flight of these birds is absolutely fantastic!
After the flight of the Condor, you will continue enjoying views of the deepest canyon of the world with its Andean terraces, which have been used by the local farmers since pre-Incan times. Then we continue our way visiting Quechua villages and have views of some Pre-Inca Tombs.
After lunch, we will drive back to Arequipa. On the way, you will have spectacular views of the Sabancaya and Ampato Volcanoes, which may have snow, and more Llamas and Alpacas!

Day 8: Tourist bus journey Arequipa - Puno (12,550 ft)

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the bus station to board your bus to Puno.
Upon arrival at Puno bus station you will be transferred to your Hotel.

Day 9: Boat trip to Lake Titicaca/Overnight on Amantani Island

After Breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to Puno pier to board the motor boat and start your adventure on the highest navigable Lake in the world, the first stop will be on the floating Totora reed Islands of The Uros where you will see how these pre-Incan people live; we continue our journey through the lake toward Amantani Island, where you will have an overnight stay with an Aymara family and learn about their traditions and customs of this pre-Inca culture.

Day 10: Taquile Island (12960 ft) – Puno

After breakfast, we continue to Taquile Islands where you will learn more about Inca’s culture and traditions; their lifestyle remains the same as it has been for centuries with very little influence from modern times. Here you will find beautiful textiles and some of the best handicraft in the Inca region. In the afternoon, we will return to Puno pier, from where you will be transferred to your hotel.

Day 11: *Tourist bus journey Puno - Cusco (11,100 ft)

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the bus station to board the tourist bus to Cusco and have one of the most fabulous journeys with spectacular views of the Andes Mountains and countryside. The bus journey includes visits to Tipon, Andahuaylillas, Raqchi, La Raya and Pukara.
Upon arrival at Cusco bus station you will be transferred to your Hotel.

Day 12: Guided tour of Cusco and nearby Inca Ruins

14:00: this afternoon your guide will pick you up from your hotel and show you the highlights of Cusco, the colonial cathedral, the great temple of Korikancha and the 4 impressive Inca ruins around Cusco: Sacsayhuaman, with its massive walls, Qenko, site of carved living rock, Puca Pucara, an Inca lodging Site and Tambo Machay, known as the Baths of the Inca. You will learn more about the Incas’ secrets!

Day 13: Guided tour of the Incas’ sacred valley

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel to start your adventure in the Incas’ sacred valley; today you will visit the famous Indian Market of Pisac where the local families sell their products and handicraft. The trip includes visits to Quechua colorful villages like Calca, Yanahuara, Urubamba, Yucay and others where you will be able to interact with the locals and learn about their ancient customs and traditions. After lunch, your guide will show you Ollantaytambo, this incredible Royal Inca site where the Incas made one of their last stands against the Spanish, a truly amazing Incas’ highlight. In order to have a more comfortable trip you will stay overnight in Ollantaytambo village, next morning you will board the train to Machu Picchu!

Day 14: Machu Picchu by train

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to Ollantaytambo train station to board the Vista dome train to Aguas Calientes (the base town of Machu Picchu).
Guided tour of Machu Picchu (8,000 ft)
Upon arrival at Aguas Calientes train station you will be met by your guide and take a 25 minute bus journey to Machu Picchu where you will have a guided tour and learn about the history of this site. You will have some insight into the various features of this sacred city and have free time to really enjoy yourself!
After visiting Machu Picchu, you will board the bus to Aguas Calientes, where you will have lunch before boarding the train to Cusco.
Afternoon: Train journey to Cusco
Upon arrival at the train station, you will be transferred to your Hotel.

Day 15: Flight Cusco - Puerto Maldonado (Tambopata National Reserve)

After breakfast, you will be picked from your hotel and transferred to the airport to board your morning flight to Puerto Maldonado, the closest town to Tambopata Reserve.
Upon arrival at Puerto Maldonado airport you will be met by our representative and transferred to
Posada Amazonas headquarters (10 minute ride). While enjoying your first taste of the forest in the gardens you will be asked to pack only the necessary gear for your next few days, and leave the rest of your luggage in a safe deposit. This helps to keep the boats light.
Skirting Puerto Maldonado, we drive 20 kilometers to the Tambopata River Port, entering the Native Community of Infierno. The port is a communal business.
Tambopata River Port to Posada Amazonas: you will have a forty five minute boat ride to Posada Amazonas (the Community´s Primary Forest Private Reserve).
Upon arrival, the lodge manager will welcome you and brief you with important navigation and security tips.
Canopy tower: A twenty minute walk from Posada Amazonas leads to the 30 meter scaffolding canopy tower. From atop you will have spectacular views of the vast expanses of standing forest cut by the Tambopata River winding through the middle. Now and then toucans, parrots or macaws are seen flying against the horizon, or mixed species canopy flocks land in the treetop next to you.
Ecotourism Lecture. A daily presentation on the Infierno ecotourism project is available every evening from a staff member.

Day 16: Tres Chimbadas Oxbow Lake/Parrot clay lick/Ethnobotanical Tour.

After breakfast, you will have a 30 minute boat ride to Tres Chimbadas, once there you will paddle around the lake in a catamaran, searching for the resident family of nine giant river otters (seen by 60% of our lake visitors) and other lakeside wildlife such as caiman, hoatzin and horned screamers.
Then, you will visit a parrot clay lick located only twenty minute by foot from Posada Amazonas. From a blind located about twenty meters away you will see dozens of parrots and parakeets descending to ingest the clay of the river bank. Species such as Mealy and Yellow- headed Amazon, Blue-headed Parrot and Dusky headed Parakeet descend at this clay lick. The clay lick is most active at dawn and during the late mornings and mid-afternoons.
After lunch, you will have a twenty minute boat ride downriver to a trail designed by the staff of the Centro Ñape. The Centro Ñape is a communal organization that produces medicines out of forest plants and administers them to patients who chose their little clinic. They have produced a trail which explains the different medicinal (and other) uses of selected plants.
Evening walk: You will have the option of hiking out in the evening, when most of the mammals are active but rarely seen.

Day 17: Posada Amazonas - Puerto Maldonado/Flight to Lima

We retrace our river and road journey back to Puerto Maldonado, our office and the airport. Depending on airline schedules, this may require dawn departures.
On arrival in Puerto Maldonado, transfer to the airport to board your flight to Lima.
Upon arrival at Lima airport you will be transferred to your Hotel in Miraflores.
The afternoon is yours, you may be want to enjoy an evening meal overlooking the elegant Parque Kennedy, go shopping in Larco Mar (one of the most beautiful shopping centers in the world) located by the Pacific ocean; or you may wish take a stroll down the beach.

Day 18: Lima Tour/Flight back home

After lunch, you will be driven to the city of the Kings where you will see beautiful monuments Colonial Palaces, Colonial houses adorned with Moorish-style balconies, Plaza San Martin, Plaza de Armas, the baroque cathedral, Palacio de Gobierno (Governors Palace), the Archbishop's Palace with its big carved wooden balconies, and the convent of San Francisco which houses the largest collection of religious art in the Americas. Underneath the convent lie extensive catacombs that served as the cemetery during the colonial period!
Evening flight back home
You will be transferred to the airport to board your flight back home.
